Between Florence and Siena in the heart
of the Chianti wine region
|
|
|
The history of Villa del Borgo is linked
with the history of the Chianti wine. The first historical
records date back to the 18th century, when in 1773 after a
visit to the Chianti region the Duke who was traveling the
area wrote about the owning family and the fascinating
culture and wine of the region. Halfway between Florence and
Siena, Villa del Borgo is located in the heart of the
Chianti Classico wine region just outside of the medieval
town centre of one of the most picturesque villages of the
area. The Hotel and large wine estate have been carefully
restored preserving the ancient architectural features.
Accommodations consist of 40 rooms divided into suites with
terraces and standard rooms located throughout the main
building and annex overlooking the valley. The guestrooms,
furnished with antiques are equipped with private bath,
air-conditioning, satellite TV, and telephone. Suites
include Jacuzzis. Dining at Villa del Borgo leaves nothing
left to be desired as the traditional Tuscan cuisine is
prepared with care according to the seasons and natural
products of the area. Along with the restaurant is a small,
but furnished, wine cellar that will let you choose between
a selection of more than 300 labels of local and Italian
wines. Whether you are eating breakfast on the panoramic
terrace overlooking the spectacular views of the Tuscan
landscape, enjoying the heated pool with large solarium, or
relaxing in the cozy lounges complete with fireplaces, you
are sure to leave relaxed, refreshed, and ready to return. |
