Arrive in the morning at Padova. Guided tour of the city: Piazza
delle Erbe, Cathedral and Battistero, Palazzo della regione, St. Anthony
Basilica. Named "Il Santo", the church is one of the most famous
sanctuary of the world and was built in roman-gothic style from 1232 to half of
‘300 in order to accept the grave of Saint Anthony of Padua. It’s very rich
of works of art, like the marvelous bronzes by Donatello. Free lunch. In the
afternoon it is possible to visit Scrovegni Chapel, built in roman-gothic style,
consecrated in 1305 It contains inside the very famous frescos by Giotto, one of
the masterpieces of Italian painting. (not included in the quotation). There is
the possibility to book a a Holy Mass in the Baslica of St. Anthony.
Accommodation in a good villa, completely renewed, or good hotel. Free dinner.
Overnight.
2nd Day VENICE: Breakfast. Departure for Venice. Arrival in Venice, also called:
"La Serenissima" a denomination dating back in a time period between
the Middle Age and the renaissance. It raises on a little islands in the middle
of the lagoon of Venice and it is famous for its brightness and the uncommon
beauty of its marble monuments on the shore. Excursion to the most known and
important islands of Venice: Murano e Burano, famous for their glass
craftsmanship. Return to Venice. Fee lunch. Guided tour of classic Venice.
Return to Villa or Hotel. Free Dinner and Overnight.
3rd Day VERONA
– LAKE GARDA: Breakfast. Departure for
Verona. In Verona is set the suffered love of Romeo and Juliet. Guided tour: our
historians of art will guide you through Verona, where you will look at the
famous Arena (where a lot of shows take place), the Roman Theatre with 23
gradine, San Gerolamo convent. Free lunch. Tour of Peschiera del Garda, one of
the small town raising up the lake of Garda: there you will visit the sanctuary
of Madonna del Frassino, raised where tradition tell that Virgin Mary appeared
to a peasant in 1510. In the sanctuary you will look at excellent paintings by
Paolo Farinati (16th century) Return to Villa or Hotel. Free dinner
and overnight.
4th Day SOTTO IL MONTE
/ BERGAMO: Breakfast. Departure for Sotto il Monte and
visit of the places where the Good Pope Giovanni XXIII lived. He was canonized
two years ago. The origin of the village dates back to IX century under the name
"Bercio" after "Sotto il Monte" and it followed the same
historical events as Bergamo. The village took on the full name of "Sotto
il Monte Giovanni XXIII" on January 13th, 1964 decree of the
President of the Italian Republic, Antonio Segni. Free lunch. In the afternoon,
you will hear the Holy Mass. Return to Villa or Hotel. Overnight.
5th Day RETURN
HOME: Breakfast. Departure back home.
